Attendance points

Attendance points

To my students (attendance points) ,

I want to talk about yesterday. I noticed that many of you left during the break and didn't come back, so I took attendance again at the end of class. One of you left me a note explaining that some of you are preparing for the civil service exam — and I want you to know I truly understand. That exam is your dream. It's competitive, it's demanding, and every hour of study counts. I respect that completely.

Here's the thing: my class is not hard to pass. Even without the attendance points, most of you will still pass. So if you decide to leave early to study for the exam, that's a decision you're free to make — and I won't hold it against you. The attendance points are just a choice: stay, and you earn them; leave, and you don't. That's all.

But I want to leave you with one thought, and it's the reason I teach this class: English is a skill that will follow you for life. The civil service exam can get you a great job — but English can get you an even better one, or help you go further once you're in. The students who speak English well will always have an advantage over those who don't.

So my advice? Don't give up on English. Even if you can't make every class, keep studying. Keep practicing. Because one day, when the exam is over and you're working, the English you learned here will open doors you can't even imagine right now.

I'm proud of you for working so hard toward your goals. Just don't forget this one: English is a door — and it's worth keeping open.
