Recording and Sharing
Recording and Sharing Teaching Moments - my thoughts and respect for others.
Purpose and Vision
For me, recording English Corner sessions has always been about celebrating the joy of teaching, preserving meaningful classroom moments, and inspiring students beyond the walls of the school. These recordings are not intended as commercial exploitation, but as a way to highlight the collaborative spirit of language learning.
The Value of Documentation
Legacy: Capturing sessions allows us to look back and see how far students have come.
Inspiration: Sharing authentic teaching moments can motivate learners and educators worldwide.
Connection: Videos and photos create bridges between cultures, showing the universal nature of learning.
Respecting Boundaries
While I believe strongly in the positive role of documentation, I also recognize that each individual has the right to decide how their image is used. Respecting colleagues’ wishes is part of maintaining trust and harmony in our teaching community.
A Balanced Approach
Focus recordings on myself or students who consent.
Blur or edit out individuals who prefer not to appear.
Continue to share the spirit of English Corner without compromising personal comfort.
Use of Images
Public events and classroom activities are often documented, and incidental appearances are a normal part of this process.
If you appear in any of the content and prefer not to, you may contact me directly to request removal or editing.
Requests will be reviewed in good faith, with consideration for whether the appearance is incidental or featured.
Boundaries and Respect
Featured individuals will always be removed or blurred upon request.
Incidental appearances in large group settings are generally unavoidable, but I will respect reasonable concerns.
Boundary statement.
“The photos and recordings I share are meant to celebrate teaching and preserve collective memories. In public events and classrooms, incidental appearances are unavoidable and generally accepted. While I will always respect reasonable requests from individuals who are clearly featured, incidental background presence is part of normal university life and not grounds for removal. My intent is never to single out or persecute anyone, but to highlight the joy of learning.”
In documenting our teaching activities, my goal is always to celebrate learning, not to single anyone out. When photos or videos are edited to obscure someone, it can unintentionally attract more curiosity (than the original picture) and make that person stand out in ways that were never intended. For this reason, I encourage anyone to see incidental appearances as part of normal public life, rather than something to fear. By embracing the collective spirit of English Corner, or for that matter any other activity, we avoid unnecessary attention and preserve the joyful, natural atmosphere of our classroom or any learning sessions.
Closing Thought
Recording is not about surveillance or intrusion—it is about storytelling, memory, and inspiration. At the same time, honoring personal boundaries ensures that our teaching culture remains respectful and collaborative. In this balance, both celebration and consent can coexist.
The purpose of these recordings is to highlight the joy of learning and teaching. While complete avoidance of incidental appearances is not practical in public life, I remain committed to respecting personal boundaries and addressing concerns responsibly.

#E02 Luo Han 4109# I did write a review of this post from my teacher. Here is my review:
After reading this post, I’m deeply touched by how the teacher balances recording teaching moments with respecting everyone’s personal privacy. As a student who has joined English Corner for a long time, I totally understand the teacher’s original intention. Recording these activities is never for commercial use, but to keep the precious memories of our English learning, encourage more students to learn English actively, and build a nice bridge for cultural communication among us. The teacher clearly tells us the value of recording: it lets us see our own learning progress over time, inspires English learners everywhere, and connects different cultures through the happiness of learning together. What’s more, the teacher fully respects our right to privacy and offers a good solution—students who don’t want to be in the videos can ask for blurring or removal. This thoughtful consideration makes me feel valued and safe when I take part in English Corner. What impresses me most is the teacher’s sincere words about the boundary of recording. The teacher says accidental appearances in public activities are a normal part of university life, and blurring may draw more attention instead. This makes me realize that English Corner is a collective activity where the joy of learning is the most important thing. We can just take these accidental appearances as a sweet part of our youth memories, no need to worry about them at all. This post not only makes me understand the teacher’s kind intention of recording, but also teaches me an important lesson: we should respect others’ boundaries while enjoying the fun of learning. It makes me more willing to join in English Corner activities, and I hope these lovely recording moments can share the joy of English learning with more people in the future.
