3 ►News 3 – Louisville Family Builds Beds for Kids
Thousands of kids in Louisville, Kentucky don't have a place to sleep. A local family is taking matters into their own hands. The family is building beds for children from their house.
Last year, Tom Recktenwald was watching the evening news when he heard about an organization, Sleep in Heavenly Peace. The organization builds beds for kids who need them. "When I saw the children's happy faces, I knew that's what I wanted to do with my time," Recktenwaldsaid. Recktenwald and his family began making beds. "We've taken for granted our whole lives because we've always had our own bed," said Jack Recktenwald, Tom's son.
The Recktenwald's have already delivered 40 beds. One day, the family hopes to build in a workshop that's away from their home.
